403 (forbidden) error when browsing to site after publishing
Craig
The most likely reason that you are seeing the 403 error instead of your home page is because you do not have a properly named index page, or the files were loaded to the wrong folder. The server looks for specifically-named files to decide what to serve up as your home page. Check article #42 for a list of acceptable index file names.

If the server does not find one of these in your www folder, it will return a 403 error as it does not know what page to serve up as your home page, and the server will not display the directory contents for security reasons.

If your $domain-www folder is empty you will get this message. If you've accidentally uploaded to the root folder or other location, this can happen. Make sure you place all the web files you want served in your $domain-www folder or below. Do not place documents in the root folder.
